Sea Collage

Students created ocean themed collages in time for the National Oceans Science Bowl Art Show at the Sea Life Center this weekend. They began with a photo reference, identified 4 values within the photo, and redrew and enlarged the image with charcoal onto a piece of paper. Next, they drew around the shapes of each value onto canvas, creating outlines like a coloring book. Students used bits of paper to "fill in the lines" and build up each value. They did a great job as you can see!

Masks

Masks are made all over the world. They transform the wearer, exaggerating some form of power. Seward High's Ceramics Class made their own masks. Students began by drawing out their designs, they then draped slabs of clay over face molds and sculpted from there. I was impressed with the results!
