Hard Edge Paintings

For this assignment, students chose the subject matter and arranged the composition of their painting, which they dissected with various lines. They used masking tape to keep the lines "hard", or neat and straight, while changing colors as they crossed the lines. Students mixed their own colors using the primary colors - red, yellow and blue, plus black and white. Here are some of the highlights:

Micrography is a Jewish artform where words are used to build up values. Seward High's Advanced Art class created their own micrographies. Here they are:

Figure Drawing

The Art Classes at Seward High have just completed a unit on Figure Drawing. Students began by studying the proportions of the human form. They then did "life drawings" of live models, focusing on capturing correct proportions and positions as well as light and shadows within the figure.
